Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Adrian Bewley is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who has trained in EMDR at the EMDR Institute, and in Internal Family Systems through the Canadian IFS Institute. He moved into a career as a therapist after spending 15 years teaching English and drama in a Los Angeles public high school. Throughout his years as an educator, he saw how often students’ barriers to achievement had more to do with emotional and relational challenges than academic ones, which fueled his interest in becoming a therapist.

Adrian began his career working with families who were navigating open cases with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). This gave him important experience working with trauma, PTSD, addiction, domestic violence and attachment injuries. Since then, he has focused on the use of EMDR and IFS to treat complex trauma, dissociative disorders, and complex PTSD.

Adrian also specializes in working with creatives and has written several plays which have been produced in New York and Los Angeles. Through his work as a teacher and a playwright, he brings into the therapy room a strong understanding of how creativity and storytelling promote healing.
